default to 64-bit Windows.

32-bit is selected by default because, as it says, it's the most compatible, and since it's a portable install, it's designed so it can be moved from computer to computer. Unless you're dealing with huge files or extremely large folder structures, the 64-bit version doesn't have many advantages.
