    FTP Operation

I am not knowledgeable about FTP internals, but it seems that for each and every single operation, we send a PASV
to open a new data channel for the response data.

It would be much more efficient to use a persistant data channel; but I am confident that you would have done this
    if it were possible.

Can you clarify that the FTP protocol insists on a new connection for each operation.

    Regards, Mike.

FTP is a very old protocol, this is just the way it works.

Every FTP connection has a separate control and data connection, and each file you transfer uses a new data connection.
