How to connect to sharepoint libs / apps?

How can I connect to MS Sharepoint libraries / apps (eg: document library) as part of a comparision?

I know about mapping a drive letter using net use https://..., but I'm looking for an easier way directly from within Beyond Compare...

    Hi Bernhard,

Yes, Beyond Compare 4 can connect to Sharepoint libraries directly. In the Browse dialog click the [+] button below the left treeview and select "WebDAV Profile". Use the same "https://..." URL you would use for if you were mapping it as a drive letter.

Unable to expand folder / bad request

      Hi Craig,

thanks for your help - wouldn't have found this option otherwise.

Alas, it does not seem to work for me, I always get a "Unable to expand folder" message, when trying to expand the folder while still in "Browse using profile" mode. Status log gives me a "HTTP error 400: Bad request".

      I've tried different combinations of:
      • with or without password (without = user name only)
      • URL ending with trailing slash (either base URL or with specific name of SP app) or with specific HTML page (.../SitePages/Homepage.aspx)

This is a SP 2013 server I'm connecting to.

      Any ideas?

      TIA, Bernhard

Best would probably be to contact [email protected] and get a development build. There were some recent fixes in this area as well as some changes that will make debugging easier if it isn't fixed. Include a link to this post in the email so the guys know what you're asking for.

            Hello,

Thanks for running those tests; that's the first set of things I would have asked about.
Do you have any other methods of testing if access via https:// as WebDAV is working? If you attempt to map as a network drive, are your items accessible?

Update: and I see your email. We'll get you that debug build.

yes, mapping via "net use s: https://..." works, and I can use this as base folder for BC3/4, then using the typical BC functions (eg edit, copy, delete, compare) - that's the way I do a folder compare involving a SP lib right now, I'm just looking for an easier, integrated solution.

The email with the debug build was sent earlier this morning. Did you get it?

I installed it, but no difference (see e-mail).

http to other SP server works

did a quick testing against another Sharepoint server (different version, older than 2013), using http (instead of https) - this seems to work, as subfolders are listed - so either DAV in combination with https protocol or with SharePoint 2013 (or both ) may be the root cause.

                      Hello,

You should have an email with further instructions and how to capture a log using Fiddler. Please check your email and capture the log when you can.
