Visual Studio files

I know some people have invented ways to make these files more merge-able by sorting them in some fashion.

A co-worker recently shared a link to a mostly complete BNF grammar for Visual Studio 2012 files. See this link:

I thought this might be an interesting alternative approach for merging these file types that at least warrants some consideration.

Thanks for the reference material. That looks similar to an approach another user took for RESX files, which can be incorporated using a File Format with External Conversion, detailed here:
