macOS Tahoe 26.2 introduced a bug in XProtect's handling of AppleScript that causes Beyond Compare 4 - 5.1.6 to hang.

Settings Dialog Hang

Opening the Beyond Compare > Settings dialog hangs, showing the spinning wait cursor (beachball) until Beyond Compare is Force Quit.

The Settings dialog hang is fixed in Beyond Compare 5.1.7.

A workaround isn't available for versions of Beyond Compare older than 5.1.7.

Install Command Line Tools Hang

Running Beyond Compare > Install Command Line Tools hangs, showing the spinning wait cursor (beachball) until Beyond Compare is Force Quit.

The Install Command Line Tools hang is fixed in Beyond Compare 5.1.7.

To workaround the hang in versions of Beyond Compare older than 5.1.7, install command line tools from Terminal following instructions in the Command Line Tools on macOS page.
