Transfer Install to a New Computer

NOTE: This was written with Beyond Compare 5 in mind. For older versions, replace the version number with your major version (ex. BC5Key.txt becomes BC4Key.txt).

If you can still run Beyond Compare on the old computer, run it, then select Help > About Beyond Compare to show the 8 digit serial number of the license. If you provide us with the serial number, we can use that to send you the license from our database.

If it's not possible to run Beyond Compare on the old computer, license keys are stored as a file named BC5Key.txt in one of two locations:

Registered for a Single User

Copying BC5Key.txt from the old computer to the same location on the new computer will register the software on the new computer. To transfer Beyond Compare settings between computers, use the Tools > Export Settings and Tools > Import Settings commands.
