    Unattended installation

Under Windows, I would like to proceed with unattended installation and to push and install the license key to the end users without communicating this key to everybody.

Has anyone already done it ?
    Best Regards

    Hello,

You can follow the steps outlined in our KB article for a command line install, here:
    http://www.scootersoftware.com/suppo...zz=kb_netsetup

Or use the .msi, if you are familiar with msi deployment:
    http://www.scootersoftware.com/downl...4_winalternate
(Placing BC4Key.txt next to the .msi will also auto-deploy the key, similar to Network instructions above).

When using the EXE (both silently and manually) with the BC4Key.txt in the same directory, the app is licensed. But when I use the MSI with the BC4Key.txt, is not licensed.

is there anything different you have to do with the MSI?

After you run the MSI installer, save the license key as BC4Key.txt in the program folder to register for all user accounts. If you installed to the default location, the path is "c:\program files\beyond compare 4\BC4Key.txt".

            To clarify:

If you save BC4Key.txt in the same folder as the MSI, then double click on the MSI in Windows Explorer to install, it will register for all user accounts during installation.

If you save BC4Key.txt in the same folder as the MSI, then install using MSIEXEC, it doesn't register during installation. After an install using MSIEXEC, save the license key as BC4Key.txt in the program folder (c:\program files\beyond compare 4\BC4Key.txt) to register for all user accounts. This is probably also true for MSI deployment using SCCM, although I haven't tested that scenario.
