    Mac OSX Support

I would LOVE to see native support for Mac OSX from Beyond Compare.

In the mean time, I have a working installation on my MacBook Pro running OSX Lion (also worked under snow leopard)

    Details:

    Install MacPorts
    www.macports.org

Use MacPorts to install wine (from terminal)
    sudo port install wine

You will need an X window server installed. Apple provides an X11 server, but I'm not certain if it's always installed by default. It's under "Optional Installs" on the OSX install disk.

    Download the BeyondCompare installer
    wget http://www.scootersoftware.com/BCompare-3.3.3.14128.exe

    Install BeyondCompare under wine
    wine BCompare-3.3.3.14128.exe

    Run BeyondCompare under wine
    wine ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Beyond\ Compare\ 3/BCompare.exe

I hope this helps somebody other than myself in the mean time until Scooter Software gets native Mac support prioritized in their development pipeline.

    sphantom,

How transparent is running BC on Mac using this method? I have it running under crossover but if this is cleaner, I'd like to try it. I just dont want to install everything if it similar to what I already have.

    Thanks
    Duane

Wine is just the open source version of CrossOver, so it should be virtually identical to what you already have set up.

        +1 for native Mac support.

I too have got Beyond Compare 3 running in CrossOver and it does work, but not great. Integrating it with source control and IDEs is extremely difficult, if not impossible. A native Mac application would really help.
