PGM 16-bit image files are not supported

PGM 8-bit image files are supported in BC3 without any problems. However, PGM 16-bit image files (at least, the P5 binary files) are not (I assume that PPM 16-bit image files are not support, either). Can we add support for them?

    Details are found here:
    http://www.fileformat.info/format/pbm/egff.htm
    http://netpbm.sourceforge.net/doc/pgm.html
    http://netpbm.sourceforge.net/doc/ppm.html

The only difference is that maxval is greater than 255 and the value is stored in multiple bytes.

    Thanks,
    Brad

    Hi Brad,

    Thanks for the suggestion.

Can you send us an example 16-bit pgm file that you're having trouble with? You can send it to [email protected].

If you can't send us an example file, what program are you using to generate the pgm files?

      Hi Chris--

Thanks for your reply. I found this thread again while trying to compare to 16-bit PGM images.

I'm not sure if I didn't see your reply or did not send a reply. However, I can't find a record of me sending a response.

Can we re-open this request? I have attached an example image and screenshots of how it should appear and how it appears in Beyond Compare 4. I have also sent a similar email to [email protected].

      Thanks,
      Brad Wade

        Hello,

Thanks for getting back to us with those sample files. I also tested BC4 and, despite upgrading the Picture Library to a newer version, this file type still isn't supported. With these sample files, we can investigate this support.
