Save Worksapce silently saves some session changes

I'm referring the the /paths/ of the left and right base /folders/.

I think this too could do with improvement. These drop-combo boxes are unlabelled on the UI, have no menu commands to set them, and are unmentioned in the Folder Compare Help, AFAICS.

Ah. That would explain the "autosave" I saw.

I think it would be really good if that info - which session settings are stored in workspaces - likewise was made available in the docs.

Particularly since undefined behaviour case I experienced can and did cause user data loss.

In 3.2, we've added Session > Browse for Folder commands.

I looked on the session tab and menus and found no such command. I can find Lock only if I open a Home tab. Is this intentional?

This could be a bit confusing to present in the interface. You cannot lock auto-saved sessions and we do not currently emphasize if the user is in a new unsaved session, auto-saved session, or a saved session.

If the user attempts to go to the Session menu or a keyboard shortcut to lock an auto-saved session or unsaved new session, what behavior would you expect?

Locking (as well as renaming or deleting) is considered session management, which is why it is located on our Home screen. Could you go into more detail on how you would use locking when within the session itself, and the disadvantages of going to the Home screen to perform the Lock?

I assume the program knows about one of the three session states. Either the Lock-Action can be disabled on non-saved sessions or a messagebox "Save this Session before (un-)locking" can appear.

I see Locking as a session setting, but some (you) may see it as session management, supporters for one of us are welcome.

My advantage of a session setting would be the possibility to lock a session while using it. This would have prevented me several times from unintentionally changes of a session.

Non sequitur, I suggest. It does not makes sense to me that to lock the session of the current tab, I have to open a second tab.

Me too. Especially as the alternative of making settings files Read Only has its own problem - report to follow.
