Compare 500 xml files from two folders

    Friends,

I have 500 xml files into folder1 and 500 xml files into folder2.
    For example:
    ABC_123456.xml is under folder1
    XYZ_123456.xml is under folder2

File name remains same after underscore.

How do I parse the file name then comapre the text in the them?

    Thanks,
    Prashant

    Hello,

You can create an alignment override in BC3 Pro that defines the difference and masks the identical part of a filename.

For example, load your Folder Compare, and go to the Session menu -> Session Settings, Misc tab. Then define the Alignment Override:
    ABC_* = XYZ_*
This will align the left file (starts with ABC) with the right file (XYZ) where the mask part is equal (123456.xml).

How does that work for you?

We have following: BC3 Version: 3.1.8 (build 11096).
I went to Session Settings but could not find Misc tab.

BC3 Pro is required for the Alignment Overrides feature; it sounds like you have Std.

Also, all BC3.x updates are free. You can update to the latest version (currently 3.1.11) from the Help menu -> Check for Updates, or from our downloads page:
