http index as a folder topic

Many sites use Apache indexing to display a list of files in a directory.

All the files can be downloaded using "Free Download Manager".

Can you add this as a folder type for compare?
It would be much more convenient that FDM.

It's similar to ftp, but these sites have no ftp access.

    Simple example:

    http://mirrors.kernel.org/gnu/

Same info using ftp site (currently handled by BC3)

    ftp://mirrors.kernel.org/gnu/

---- Actually, this looks like a bug in the latest BC3 release ----
    Help -> Text Compare Overview

    Example file specs:

    ftp://[email protected]/file.txt
    C:\Backups\Archive.zip\file.txt

    Hello,

The Text Compare does support viewing pages from an HTTP address. The Folder Compare does not support the HTTP protocol for browsing a directory structure.

Adding additional abilities to our Folder Compare is on our wishlist, but would be a large feature.

      @ Aaron:

      What about WebDAV?
AFAIR this is on the wishlist for years now ...

Although I must confess, I hardly use it. The best innovation in BC3 was definitively SFTP !!!!!

      Bye

        Still on the wishlist, Christoph.

The SFTP and FTPS support was our priority for 3.0. We also just recently added the HTTP support for the Text Compare. We still add new methods when we can.
