How do I set the file's character encoding (e.g. ANSI) for the display?

Sorry, it isn't possible to change the character encoding for the display in the Hex Compare. Displaying in other character encodings in the Hex Compare is on our wish list for a future release.

Just so we can have an example to follow, are you aware of any Hex Editors that allow you to display in character encodings other than ANSI?

None. The one I used before BC I think even predated common Unicode, and I found very little choice.

BTW, the reason I wanted alternative encoding today is for debugging encodings When you do add this, I hope the Unicode display will make very clear which 1/2/3 bytes a character maps to.
