    Data Compare Rules

    Suggestion:
When comparing files with many columns (with the DataView), it is sometimes necesary to change the "Column Handling" type of each column. This requires a lot of fancy mouse work. It would be very handy if the (down)arrow keys could be used to select the next column and hotkeys S(tandard), K(ey), U(nimportant) and R(emoved). On can then run through he list easily and quickly.

    Re: Data Compare Rules

Thanks for the suggestion. I will add it to our wish list for new Data Viewer features.

      Hi Chris,

Same here, just wondering if this will make it into a release?

      Kind regards,

This is a very old forum thread discussing Beyond Compare 2.

Beyond Compare 3 and 4 allow you to change settings for multiple columns before the comparison is recalculated.

In Beyond Compare 3's Data Compare or BC4's Table Compare, click the Rules toolbar button or open "Session > Session Settings" and go to the "Columns" tab. Double click on a column to edit settings. The comparison won't be recalculated until you click OK to close the Session Settings dialog.

You can also change column type by right clicking on the column header, but the comparison will be recalculated after each column header change.
