It might be worth checking to see if you can add additional code page
support to Windows. To add additional code pages in Windows XP, open
Regional and Language options in the Control Panel. Go to the Advanced
tab. Check items in the "Code page conversion tables" list to add
support. Once you've added them, they should show up as an option in
BC's Character Set dropdown.

Said and done. I contacted support who came round with the XP CD-rom. I then installed code page 01143 (Swedish Finnish) and reran BC2. NOW I see this as one of the code page options and accessing mainframe files with special characters works fine.

Does this still work? I'm on BC 2.4 (Build 240) and the mainframe "directory" (aka PDS) is always displayed as empty.

I noticed that when logging into ftp manually to the PDS that it displays if I do a "ls" command, but not if I use any options such as "ls -a". Not sure if that's related. Is there a way to tell (or control) what LIST command is used by BC?

Sorry Steve. What was your question and to whom was it addressed ?

(Guessing - I'm running 2.3.1 and am having no problems with m/f files using Swedish/Finnish codepage and the corresponding PC one using ANSI)

Hmmm. I tried a different server (mainframe) and it works fine. I'll go with that one as it has access to the same datasets.

Steve,

I'm glad to hear it works on the other server. To see what FTP commands BC is using, look at the green log pane. If you don't see it, you can turn on logging by selecting View|Log|Verbose from the menu.
