Dont create orphan lines.

Hi,

I want to do a line by line comparison of data that looks like the attached.

I don't understand why orphan lines are generated ?

Is there a way to request a line by line comparison.

I'm using BC v3.

BC3's Text Compare has alignment methods that try to find matching/close lines and align them, to better handle inserted text. This can be tweaked or disabled in the Session menu -> Session Settings, Alignment tab: Unaligned.

I love Beyond Compare.

I've also just realised that I'm using my personal V3 but my employer has 10 licenses for V4 so I must take a look at the new features in V4.

You can also use BC3 and BC4 at the same time on Windows; their settings are separate. This way you can try out and learn BC4 while still using BC3 for day to day tasks.
