"_compareTemp" folders?

Not sure when this started, but I'm finding "_compareTemp" folders in directories that I do plain file comparisons in. Why are these being created, why are they not being cleaned up (if they're temps) and is it possible not to create those?

It looks like Dreamweaver creates _compareTemp folders when it launches file comparisons. Beyond Compare doesn't create them or have any special handling regarding either them or Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver: The Missing Manual talks about DW creating them, but doesn't say anything about how our if they get removed again, so I'd guess creates it on demand and you should just filter it out of comparisons and version control interfaces.
