    why are files hidden?

    Hi,

I'm also using BC to copy files between disks when making backups. Often, when I copy a whole folder to the other side BC reports "hidden files" - only I don't know why they should be hidden in the first place:

    - Session Settings/Name filters is blank (only contains asterisks on include)
    - Session Settings/Other filters is blank
    - Session Settings/Other filters/Exclude system files is UNchecked

After making these selections, I pressed F5 to refresh. Yet BC still treats some files as hidden. What can be reasons for this?

    Hello,

If you enable Suppress Filters (toggle on toolbar or in the View menu), which files show up in Teal?

Which Display Filter do you have set, like Show Differences, and selecting a folder which contains equal files?

      Hi,

thank you, that was the answer right there:

If you don't show "All", but "Diffs" or "Same", that is a "filter".

So what happened was that the files shown as "hidden" had simply been copied already in a previous run. Since I was in "Diffs" mode, they were masked out.

I hadn't realized that. Thanks for the hint!

      Regards

No problem. The warning dialog's general rule is if you are interacting with something that is also not current set to show everything, we'll add prompts or warning text.
