Windows - support for very long filenames

Does BC support very long filenames under Windows, using the \\?\ schematics? That would be quite useful for me, as sometimes my files are stored in a deep directory structure and the standard MAX_PATH limit isn't sufficient for them. When I tried it with 4.2.2, I got a file not found, which is surprising - it indicates that either BC uses ANSI versions of file functions (unlikely, in 2017), or that it performs some extra processing which gets confused by the \\?\ prefix (what could that be? Simply ignoring the prefix would work just fine).

Beyond Compare already adds the \\?\ prefix internally when it's necessary. You shouldn't add it to your paths manually

Cool. Good to know. I guess I am too used to doing these things myself :-)
