Using BC4 ,as Linux root, copies all files as root, regardless of ownership

I have an issue using BC4 as root.

I execute the application as root so I can copy a folder containing root ownership files (as well as my user ownership) to a backup directory on an external drive.

However, all the files in the folder - regardless of ownership - are copied over as root.

I want the files copied over to have the existing ownership, and those as root, to be copied as such.

Is there a setting I could turn on/off to fix this issue.

It seems that the file ownership is being ignored when running as root!!!

    Hello,

Our default copy behavior follows the same behavior as using cp on the Terminal. Preserving file attributes/user during a copy is on our wishlist.
