Feature Request: Apply, and filter on, File and Folder Tags

I often really want to be able to Tag a selection of files and folders within BC that I can subsequently filter on in the Finder or other utilities.

Conversely, I'd also like to be able to filter on Tags within BC that have been set in the Finder or other utilities.

Sorry, could you clarify what action you would like to perform? You want to select the items in BC4, then launch into Finder showing only these items? Similar to our Locate in Explorer example in our Open With KB article?

I want to be able to make a selection of files/folders in BC and then apply (or remove) Tags to the selected items. Tags are metadata and basically a generalization of file/folder Finder labels. See: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202754

It would also be nice if other attributes could be set, such as Created/Modified/Accessed/Backup Date_Times, and Flags (Hidden, Locked, Invisible, Package, etc.) See: http://www.skytag.com/filebuddy/en/s...ots/infow.html for a suggestion (this predates the generalization of Labels into Tags).

I would also like a filter type in BC that allowed me to only include (or exclude) files with certain Tags.

This could be implemented as an extension to your "Other Filters" tab, if that were generalized to allow both "include" and "exclude" as your name filters already allow (something I'd also like to see), or as an extension to the name filters themselves.

Tags provide a very useful way to persistently store a grouped set of files/folders. And since they are a standard part of the file system, other utilities (including the Finder) also let me set and filter on them. This would give me a way to "communicate" the output of BC to other utilities and vice versa, which is something I've often found myself wanting to do.

Ah, thanks for the info and clarification. We have similar items on the wishlist, but I'll make sure to specifically document "Tags (colors)" as something to try and support setting, comparing, and filtering. We don't support this metadata information currently, but our wishlist is where our developers go for ideas for future features and enhancements.
