    Ubuntu 16.04 Graphical Installation Hangs

Ubuntu 16.04 LTS has a bug that prevents installing 3rd party packages using Gnome Software, the replacement for Ubuntu Software Center. This prevents graphical installation of Beyond Compare. Attempting installation with Gnome Software will hang with a "Waiting to install" icon on the launcher.

As a workaround until Ubuntu fixes the bug, follow the terminal install instructions using gdebi from our Linux Installation Instructions page.

The Ubuntu 16.04 GNOME Software does not install third-party .deb packages bug was fixed on May 4, 2016. To graphically install Beyond Compare on an Ubuntu 16.04 system, install available system updates, then double click on Beyond Compare's .deb package in Files.
