4.1.1 - Right Click -> Explorer -> Copy / Cut / Paste dont work anymore

Hi,
Since i updated to 4.1 and 4.1.1, the Rightclick Explorer Functions dont work anymore. When i cut or copy a file, i dont get a paste option.

System is BC Pro 4.1.1 on Windows 10 Pro 64Bit.

Hello,

The Windows Explorer main right-click menu? If you attempt to Paste to your Windows Desktop, does the Paste option appear?

These options are Windows specific and our context menu shouldn't be able to conflict here; my test Windows 10 system also seems to work as expected. If Paste does not appear, that usually indicates the destination is read-only or is otherwise protected to prevent the pasting. Testing with the Desktop is useful since your Windows user should always have edit/paste access here.

Hi,
The Cut / Copy function insice BC dont work. So on Desktop i dont get a paste option. When i copy a file in Deskop, then in BC i get a paste option, and it is working.
So it seems just the copy / cut function dont work. I tried to start BC as admin, but same problem.

Additional tested in my Windows 7 VM. Same problem, so its not a Windows 10 Problem.

Hello,

Are you referring to Beyond Compare's Folder Compare, right clicking a file here, using Explorer -> Copy, and Explorer -> Paste? This works with the current selection, so if you are selecting a file it will only show Copy/Cut. The Folder Compare always has at least one item selected, so you would need to click into blank area or onto a subfolder in order to see the Paste.

yes, i use this function since years, i use BC since version 2. Look on the screenshots (they are in german, but i think its clear).
I select a file, goto rightclick => explorer menu => copy, or cut
Then i go to a folder, rightclick, there no paste option is given. File is not copied. In BC 4.0 it worked, cross direction between desktop file explorer and rightclick explorer menu.
Could it be an error in the german version?

Thanks. That does seem to be a factor. I switched to German in Windows 10 and can now reproduce the issue. I'll open a tracker to investigate and get this fixed.

I can confirm this is occurring in Windows 7, using English as the only language - that's why I'm here!

Until then I'm reverting to v4.0.7

Is it correct that the bug is not fixed in 4.1.2? I have still the same issue.

Just a guess, but the issue cropped up when x64 code was introduced and as a 2nd guess it's how this version accesses the registry.

It is still an open issue. BC 4.1.2 contained a few important fixes we needed to get out to help improve stability on OSX. We're not done fixing things yet and will tackle this one soon.
