    Linux Installation Instructions

If you have trouble installing Beyond Compare for Linux, make sure to follow the installation instructions we've published.

Also, make sure you're using a Linux distribution that is on our Linux Distribution Compatibility list. We provide general technical support for Beyond Compare if you're running a distribution that is not on the list, but will not investigate issues we deem specific to unsupported Linux distributions.

If you're running an unsupported Linux distribution, please evaluate the fully functional trial version of Beyond Compare to make sure it works with your distribution before purchasing a license.

Are the usual methods still available for a BC4 installation on Linux ?. Have just done a fresh install of Kubuntu 19.10 and the backup of the sources list has these entries for Beyond Compare

    /etc/apt/sources.list.d/scootersoftware.list:deb http://www.scootersoftware.com/ bcompare4 non-free
    /etc/apt/sources.list.d/scootersoftware.list.save:deb http://www.scootersoftware.com/ bcompare4 non-free
so the previous method was to add a reposirtory into the sources list. That worked for me up until yesterday, so just simply asking if that method is still valid. Also I don't see the need for installing the package "gdebi-core" as this wasn't required beforehand.

Yes, the usual methods are still available for a BC4 installation on Linux. Our Linux repository should still work.

The package "gdebi-core" might be included in Kubuntu, but it isn't included in a default install of Ubuntu 18.04. It's included in the instructions to make them valid for most Linux distributions that use .deb packages.

The package 'gdebi-core' wasn't installed by default in Kubuntu, but easy to add.
