BUG: BC4 does not handle symlinks in windows very well, whereas BC3 does. Why?

As the title suggests, there seems to be a bug in BC4 with symlinks.

    It works perfectly in BC3.

I have both installed side by side, and can show what I mean. Both versions have 'follow symlinks' unchecked in the options.

There are more than one type of symlink in windows - I am using 'Junction' symlink type.

    BEYOND COMPARE 3:

step 1 : mirror symlinks (junctions) - no problems.

    No problems.

OK it can READ clearly the symlinks already copied by BC3.

Step 2: HOWEVER if I try the test again, by clearing the target folder, and mirror the symlinks in BC4:

    I get this:

I have the option 'follow symlinks' unchecked.
It looks like it has copied real folders as if I have the option 'follow symlinks' checked - but I do not.

NOTE: If I open the target folder in a file explorer - it has actually worked:

However this is not reflected in BC4's GUI.

Maybe just a refresh will work? It doesnt...

Its seems to be a bug with just the GUI - not actual functionality.

I will have to keep using BC3 until it is fixed...because I need the GUI working to know what is happening!!

hope this helps you squash the bug

    cheers
