Why Trial Mode Error with BC in Mac OS?

I have an iMac at version 10.6.8 and I downloaded BC 4.0.6 (build 19729). I unzipped the download file and had it move itself to the application folder.

When I run the application, it displays a "Trial mode error" window which states "The trial information is missing or corrupt. (Error=7)" It also suggested to "Rerun the Beyond Compare setup program", but it never went into a setup mode. I could buy it and see if this problem goes away with a Key, but I want to try this first (since no refund is available).

What is the problem? How to go into the setup program?

This is a bug in the current version specific to 10.6 and trial mode. If you can email us at [email protected], I can generate you a trial key to test out the application. We're working on getting this fixed as well.

We've seen this pop up a couple times with corrupt downloads. If you clear your browser cache or temporarily try an alternate browser, then redownload the setup.zip from our website and re-extract it, does this new .app help avoid the error?
