    BC4 Kontextmenü

    Wo kann ich bei BC4 einstellen, das ich nach einen Rechtsklick auf eine Datei im Kontextmenü "Linken Ordner für Vergleich auswählen" oder "Vergleichen" auswählen kann? BC2 und BC3 hatten diese Möglichkeit.

    This is under Tools -> Options, Explorer Integration, similar to Beyond Compare 3.

    However, you can only have BC3 or BC4 activate at one time, and any changes may require a reboot. If you are having trouble and have BC3 installed, please launch BC3 and deactivate the checkbox here. Then boot BC4 and enable the checkbox to "Include Beyond Compare in Explorer context menu" Then reboot your PC.

    ==============

    Dies ist unter "Extras" -> "Optionen", "Explorer-Integration" zu finden; ähnlich wie bei Beyond Compare 3.

    Jedoch kannst Du dies nur entweder für BC3 oder für BC4 aktivieren, und alle Änderungen machen unter Umständen einen Neustart erforderlich. Wenn bei Dir damit Probleme auftauchen und bei Dir BC3 installiert ist, dann starte bitte BC3 und deaktiviere dort das Kontrollkästchen. Dann starte BC4 erneut und aktiviere das Kontrollkästchen "Beyond Compare im Kontextmenü des Explorers eintragen". Dann reboote den Rechner nochmals.

      Wird denn diese Funktion nicht von der zuletzt aktivierten Version überschrieben?
      Ist ja umständlich wenn man mehrere Generationen von BC installiert hat.

        The last version installed would override after a reboot, but if it didn't you can deactivate either version to make sure it won't try to take the context menu.

        ==========

        Die zuletzt installierte Version würde das nach einem Neustart überschreiben; aber wenn nicht, dann kann irgendeine der Versionen deaktiviert werden, um sicherzustellen, dass sie das Kontextmenü nicht übernimmt.

          Habe es heute selber getestet. Also ich habe BC4 installiert und sofort wird in BC3 die Option deaktiviert und in BC4 aktiv gehalten.
          Nur ist jetzt das Problem das ich bei BC4 es nicht mehr abschalten kann auch wenn ich es deaktiviere wird es beim Neustart wieder aktiviert. Nur wenn ich beim allen Optionen "nichts unternehmen" eingebe verschwindet BC aus dem Kontextmenü.

            Sorry, google translate is not able to parse these post well.

            If you have both versions installed:
            1) Launch BC3 and navigate to Tools menu -> Options dialog, Startup section. Disable "Include Beyond Compare in Explorer menu"
            2) Launch BC4 and navigate to Tools menu -> Options dialog, Startup section. Enable"Include Beyond Compare in Explorer menu"
            3) Reboot

            We do not support a mix of some BC3 options and some BC4 options. The shell extension only supports working with either BC3 or BC4, and one program should disable the option and the other should enable the option.

            ================

            Sorry, Google Translate kommt mit Deinem Post nicht so richtig klar.

            Wenn Du beide Versionen installiert hast:
            1) Starte BC3 und navigiere zum Menü Extras -> Optionen-Dialog, Starteinstellungen-Seite. Deaktiviere "Beyond Compare im Explorer Menü einbeziehen"
            1) Starte BC4 und navigiere zum Menü Extras -> Optionen-Dialog, Starteinstellungen-Seite. Aktiviere "Beyond Compare im Explorer Menü einbeziehen"
            3) Reboot

            Wir unterstützen keine Mischung aus einigen BC3-Optionen und einigen BC4-Optionen. Die Shell-Erweiterung wird nur entweder für BC3 oder BC4 unterstützt, und ein Programm sollte die Option deaktivieren und das andere sollte sie aktivieren.

              Ja das ist mir schon klar, nur ich wollte mal zum Test bei beiden Versionen das Kontextmenü ausschalten und das geht nicht. Eins von beiden Programmen ist immer aktiv.

              ===========

              Yes, that's indeed clear to me. Just for test purposes I only wanted to deactivate the context menu in both versions, which does not work. One of the programs always activates it.

                  We've seen issues where changes to the system (Windows Updates, etc) can sometimes knock out the context menu. Email into [email protected] with a link back to this forum thread and brief description of the problem (including your BCSupport.zip from the Help menu -> Support; Export) and we can help get you a registry patch which should manually clean up the context menu and get it working again.

                    I already tried to remove all registry entries for CirrusShellEx and 57FA2D12-D22D-490A-805A-5CB48E84F12A - no changes.
                    I' ll send the mail.

                      Hello,

                      It's usually a combination of not just removing, but manually re-adding the correct entries (we have a Remove patch and a manual Add patch). Also, frequent reboots while troubleshooting since Windows can lock the shell extension, preventing any changes from applying until restarted. I'll keep an eye out for your email.

                          This is not an uncommon troubleshooting issue, and the registry patches would likely fix it if you. I didn't see your email, but did another support member help you get the files, and did you reboot between tests?

                          The reboot is important at each phase, since changes to the shell extension are not applied until restarting. I usually recommend backing up your settings, then Uninstall BC4, run Remove.reg, reboot, then install BC4, reboot, and then run Add.reg and reboot once more (testing after each step after the re-install).

                          Update: I should add that the Add.reg also requires your Install Path to match, which is the Default path in the emailed file. If this is updated, you would need to update Add.reg before running.

                            Yes, I rebooted twice.
                            I think I have really uncommon problem. I have a lof of troubles with update 1803. My computer don't want to boot but somewhere i did it. But I must reinstall a lot of application again. It is a pity but I can't remember exact the time when your conxet menu is dissapear.
                            I try reinstall BC4 too - nothing happens. Curiously, from other software install I can see the new items in context menu.

                              And to confirm, this was after following the steps to cleanly uninstall BC4, run remove.reg, reboot, then reinstall BC4, reboot, and then run add.reg, and reboot once more?

                              It's also possible there's a conflicting shell extension. Using ShellExView (or another program) to disable all shell extensions, reboot, and then test just BC4's. If this is then visible, slowly re-enable the other extensions to find the problem/conflicting extension.
