18847 FTP " The parameter is incorrect"

Any ideas on this, when copying from FTP to local disc?

Unable to copy ftp://[snip]@server88.uk.web-hosting.com/access-logs: The parameter is incorrect
Unable to copy ftp://[snip]@server88.uk.web-hosting...mp/mysql.sock: The parameter is incorrect
Unable to copy ftp://[snip]@server88.uk.web-hosting....s.PGSQL.5432: The parameter is incorrect

Looking through the log, it may be something related to the target. It could be an issue creating the backup (if enabled) or creating a directory. If you try the same copy (but instead first copy FTP to Desktop\TestTemp\), does it work?

Then try copying from the Destkop\TestTemp\ to the Target. Does this hit any error messages?
Could you confirm that BC4 is expected to work properly on this FTP server?

If you give us a test account, we could verify against the server itself. Otherwise, yes, it is expected for BC4 to work with Pure-FTPd, if that's what you are asking.

Did you try my recommended troubleshooting steps to help determine if it is the server or the local side that is having trouble? If not, please do so and let us know the results.

I'm sure [email protected] will be happy to oblige.

Without appearing to be rude, I have my own work to do.

            Hello,

We would need a test account to the specific folder/file structure of the this FTP, not a generic test account. The trouble files look like they may be special sql files that are locked or wouldn't be able to copy to Windows.

Given the error message it looks like it is more likely to be the target (local) and not FTP related, or that the files being copied can't come down to a Windows file system. The requested Destop\ transfer test is necessary to confirm this however, as it could also be something specific to the device you are copying to.

              Sorry, that's confidential.

I'm surprised, since then I can't see how you could do a full set of pre-release tests.

I'd still like to know what is the "incorrect parameter" BC is complaining of.

I found this with a web search on that error message:

"The parameter is incorrect" is caused by an invalid destination filename. Make sure you don't have any invalid characters (slash, colon, etc...) in your filename.

                Could that be the problem?

                  Thanks Dave.

BC Devs: a more comprehensible error message, please.

Make sure you don't have any invalid characters (slash, colon, etc...) in your filename.
                  I see none:

2014-11-16 22:33:42 Unable to copy ftp://[snip]@server88.uk.web-hosting.com/access-logs: The parameter is incorrect

FWIW (hopefully nothing), [snip] is a-z only.
