    change userid via sudo

This is from a previous thread, having the same issue, and wondering if this is possible?

Using BC3, Is there a way to gain sudo access into a Unix system via SFTP?

Login to our unix environments is by a personal acct id/pswd, then you have to sudo su - appuser (eg) to gain privs to change script files / look at log files etc...
Access by BC FTP because my personal acct can view files but not change them.. Access by BC FTP using the 'appuser' id/pswd possible on 1 or 2 systems because we know that pswd.. but soon it'll change and be a sudo only account.
    Thanks!

    Hello,

Sorry, this is not a feature we currently support for our SFTP profiles. It's something we can look into, but if your changeover is happening soon you'll want to investigate a user-based workaround.

I'm in the same boat as the orginal poster. I'm evaluating Beyond Compare and am sold on the ability to connect to multiple remote systems simultaneously, but it's a non starter because it does not support sudo connections like WinSCP does.

Will sudo support be incorportated any time soon?

      Thanks.

        Hello,

It's a feature on our wishlist. We do not have a timetable for it, and it still requires more investigation before we could tackle implementation, so it is unlikely it would be a feature we could have a quick turnaround on.

          Thanks for the reply.

Not sure if this would help speed things up, but WinSCP is open source and you might be able to see how they enable sudo connections in thier source code.

Thanks. I'll add these notes to our entry on the subject.

I know this is an old post, but I wanted to see if this was something that was ever added to BC?

No, this isn't a feature in BC 4.3.7, but is still on our wishlist.
