What is the syntax for "smb://"?

I use a laptop with windows 2003 with my own domain.
I would like to know if I can use the syntax "smb://" also from a windows machine, to connect to a windows share that is handled by a machine that is in another domain/workgroup.
    Is it possible?
    What is the syntax?
Is it possible to specify user and password on the same line?
I searched for smb in all forums, but without any result.

    Thank You and regards

The SMB syntax follows the Host OS conventions. On Linux and OSX, this uses smb://, but Windows Networking uses \\host\.
