Does Beyond Compare detect differences in:

1. streams other than the primary data stream?
2. advanced filesystem attributes like Encryption, Deduplication, etc.?

Hello,

BC3 does not currently support comparing alternate data streams. We do support copying the NTFS security descriptors as a Session Setting, Handling option.

We do not have a deduplication scan; BC3's Folder Compare loads two directories side by side and compare the contents between these locations.

to clarify, a file may be marked for NTFS encryption...do you detect if that flag is changed?

similar question for NTFS deduplication in Windows 2012.

Neither of these attributes are compared. You can find the list of standard attributes in our Session Settings, Comparison tab: Read Only, System, Hidden, Archive.

Windows 2012 deduplication can sometimes results in files handled as symbolic links instead of files by the OS. If this is occurring, you will need to enable the Handling tab's "Follow Symbolic links" to treat them as their target instead of the link.
