    Compare Contents - Within ClearCase

    How do I Compare Contents of 2 folders inside ClearCase.

    I goto Actions-->Compare Contents-->Start

    and nothing happens.

    However, if I do the same thing outside of ClearCase, it works.

    Please advise.

    Hello,

    Would you be able to send a before and after screenshot to [email protected] ?

    Also, please include a link back to this forum post, and your support package (Help menu -> Support; Export).

    You should see the center column populate, depending on the criteria used and the result. It will only populate on files; if you run on folders it will run on the files inside the folders.

      Hi Aaron,

      when I run it inside ClearCase it doesnt do what you described. However, it does work in Windows Explorer.

      I have sent screenshots to the e-mail you have provided.

        Thanks, nsd.

        As you discussed with our developers in your email chain, Clearcase provides us with a text file with the directory structure, rather than point us at a Live directory. With this file, we can't perform Content Comparisons and are currently limited to comparing the values presented back to us in the file.

        Hopfully this helps clear up what may have been happening. If you have any examples of different behavior, or have any questions or suggestions, please let us know.
