    After installing properly bcompare:

    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get install gdebi-core
    sudo gdebi bcompare-4.1.9.21719_amd64.deb

    with this 3 files:
    cat fic1 fic2 fic3
    azerty
    azertyet
    azerty

    bcompare alaways return code 1:

    bcompare -qc fic1 fic3
    echo $?
    1
    bcompare fic1 fic2
    echo $?
    1

    the return code according to th help documentation should be:

    0
    Succès

    1
    Binairement identiques

    2
    Identiques en se basant sur des règles

    11
    Différences binaires

    12
    Similaire

    13
    Différences en se basant sur des règles


    What am I doing wrong?

    Hello,

    Are you running in an environment that, if you ran just "bcompare" the graphical interface can launch? Even when running from the command line, BC4 is not a command line utility and needs to be in an XWindows environment.

    The return codes are expected to work if you use -qc file1 file2
