  • Performance is really really bad when long lines are involved

I tested this on ArchLinux, but not sure if it's a Linux only issue or an issue across all platforms.

Basically if you have files that contain long lines without any spaces in them, then Beyond Compare grinds to a halt for a long time.

    I attached 2 test files.

    If I run
    Code:
    bcompare orig.txt modified.txt
, Beyond Compare really cranks up the CPU on my laptop and is not responsive for a long time.

On the other hand, using DiffMerge the result is instant
    Code:
    diffmerge orig.txt modified.txt

Thanks for the report. This seems to be an issue specific to Linux and your files. I'll open a tracker entry to get this fixed.

        Hello,

Thanks for the report. We will soon have a nightly build to help with this issue. This build is not intended for day to day use, but it would be helpful if you wanted to help us test. Please email us at support@scootersoftware.com if you are interested with a link back to this forum thread.
