Superscript and/or subscript

I apologize if this has been covered previously. Is there a setting I can change such that Beyond Compare 4 (ver. 4.2.4) is able to distinguish between normal script and either superscript or subscript? I'm comparing documents with equations, and 'c-1' is not the same as 'c to the '-1' power'.

Not as part of the conversion process (which also loses other formatting like font, bold, etc). The Text Compare supports plain text files, and uses conversion processes to open other binary formats (Word, PDF, etc), which strips formatting from the files in order to display them.
