  • Folder Compare: Configure custom extensions to be treated as ZIP archive?

    Hi,

Is there a way to configure Beyond Compare Folder Compare to also treat e.g. .xxx as a .zip archive? (If I know that .xxx are actually really .zip files.)

    Thanks!

    Hello,

Definitely. In the BC4 Tools menu -> Options dialog, Archive Types tab, scroll down to Zip, then add your extension to the semicolon delimited list (;*.xxxx).

Then close down and fully restart the application to apply this change.

Could you add the following extensions to the base installation:

        Code:
        7-zip archive: *.cb7
        RAR: *.cbr
        Tar: *.cbt
        Zip: *.cbz
The purpose of these archives is to contain multiple image files (such as *.JPG) that can be viewed like a book by certain readers like SumatraPDF, without going through the process of generating a PDF.

Thanks! We'll look into updating our factory defaults.

In the current release, you can add these manually in the Tools menu -> Options dialog, Archive Associations. Each library type has a semicolon ; delimited list, so you can appened each archive to the end of the existing definitions with:
          ;*.cbz
to the end of Zipped archives, for example. Once complete, click Ok to accept the change, then fully quit and restart the program to apply the archive change. This will then be remembered for any future use.
