  • How to compare DOS 8.3 aliases?

The hard disk of my pc is failing, so I am using B.C. to copy files to a usb hard disk.
After that I had started the copy, I noticed that "Session Settings" > "Handling" the entry "Maintain DOS 8.3 aliases" was NOT marked.
Now, if I want to be sure that short filenames have been copied, is it possible to check short names?
    How?

    Thank You and regards

    Hello,

BC4 does not expose the short DOS names in the Folder Compare. If you navigate to either target directory on the Command line, you can list the content with dir /x to include the short name. Output each as a .txt file, then compare the .txt outputs. You can ignore the timestamps and other data with grammars if needed or they've shifted.
