  • Comparing Content for PDF format

    Hi Support team,

Good day! We would like get your inputs about the inquiry below.

We noticed that when we compare two PDF files with different content. We are seeing that in column “Outcome” has no result. Is this a behavior of the application? Or do you have recommendation for text comparison for PDF file?

This might be a limitation of Beyond Compare's PDF file comparison. When you compare PDF files, it extracts the PDF to a temporary plain text file (.txt). Then the temporary .txt file is displayed in Beyond Compare. In some cases the plain text extraction process isn't able to access all contents in the PDF file.

As a possible workaround, open the PDF files in Adobe Reader DC. Use File > Save As Text to save the PDF as a .txt file. Then open the .txt files in Beyond Compare. In some cases, Adobe Reader is able to read more PDF contents than Beyond Compare.
