  • Can't create OneDrive profile with BC 4.2.9

When I try to add a new profile, specify OneDrive, log in, and then click 'Yes' (in the screenshot attached), a new blank Google Chrome browser window opens up and nothing happens. Nothing in the address bar, going nowhere. Just a blank browser window. What am I doing wrong?

    Hello,

Does this persist if you fully shut down BC4 and restart it? Or perform a full system reboot? We have a known issue where the second attempt at authenticating will crash BC4, and you might be seeing something similar.

Yes, even after rebooting the same thing still happens.

        Hello,

Could we also get a screenshot of the Chrome window? Even if Chrome is your default browser, it should be using IE and the address bar shouldn't be visible, so it would be good to see exactly how it is generating.

Also, what kind of account are you connecting with? A OneDrive Personal account, or one created with Office 365 Personal, or a Office 365 Work?

If you need to email us privately, you can at support@scootersoftware.com along with a link back to this forum thread for our reference.

Please see the screenshot attached of the Chrome window that opens up when I click 'Yes'.

I use OneDrive personal (the version that comes built in to Windows 10).

When you talk about IE, I wonder if you are confusing the initial browser window that appears (to take me through the authentication process) with the browser window I'm describing that opens only after clicking 'Yes'. See the screenshot in my first post. That one probably is IE, without an address bar.

            Hello,

Well, BC4 shouldn't be making any calls to the default browser, so I'm trying to determine why that window is appearing for you. While this build is still very new, we haven't had other similar reports yet and haven't reproduced this behavior in office yet. The intended behavior uses IE for that initial window, and clicking Yes then brings you back to BC4 to save the generated session. If it were to pop-up a browser by error, I'd half expect it to be IE, since that's the object BC4 is using.

One hunch: I notice you have some OneNote extension installed in Chrome. If you temporarily disable that (and the others for troubleshooting) does this still occur?

I don't know. I'm probably not going to start faffing with my Chrome extensions now, especially if BC is not supposed to be trying to launch Chrome anyway.

I don't actually need to set up a OneDrive profile. I just thought I would try it out since it was highlighted in the changelog for v4.2.9. Clearly, there are problems with it. But I'll leave it to others who actually need to use a OneDrive profile to report it and troubleshoot it with you.
