  • 21719 Folder Compare: Efficient mirroring?

Is there some way to avoid Mirror copying a zillion unchanged files, except by manually running Compare Contents first?

Mirror will copy any different files as defined by the currently set criteria. If Mirror is copying a file, you must have criteria set to be compared that is also different. Running a content compare, by default, can override quick test results.

      Not reproduced here, sadly.

Sorry. that sentence makes no sense to me. To what does "that is [<<singular]" refer?

        Hello,

You mentioned that Sync Mirror is copying a zillion unchanged files (unless set to Compare Contents). Mirror can only copy different files, and would not copy equal files.

I suspect that either Timestamp or Size is different for your files, so Mirror would copy these different files. Running a Compare Contents command can Override Quick Test Results, so if Compare Contents returns equal, then the comparison status is updated.

But Mirror does not copy equal files, where "equal" is defined criteria in the Session Settings.
