    zero byte files and directories

I am getting the following error messages:
12/24/2016 04:27:16 AM Unable to load /media/Seagate4TB/adaptec/Windows7/Application/jmide: An operating system call failed.
12/24/2016 04:27:16 AM Unable to load /media/Seagate4TB/adaptec/Windows7/Application/res: An operating system call failed.
12/24/2016 04:27:16 AM Unable to load /media/Seagate4TB/adaptec/Windows7/Application/x64: An operating system call failed.

These are either zero byte files/or directories. What option do I choose to get past these errors.
I have no issues navigating to the files/dir.

    Hello,

Thanks for the report. Could you provide a bit more information on your computer and network? Which OS/version are you currently running? And are you running the latest BC4.1.9, which you can check from the About dialog.

Is this a Seagate NAS device, and has it been rebooted recently? Are there any firmware or driver updates available?

I am using Linux 4.4.0.57, with the Seagate partitioned as NTFS.
      I am running BC4.1.9 build 21719.
This issue does not happen on my mac.

          Hello,

Sorry for the delay, we've had a few office illnesses.

Could you clarify your earlier data? You are running Linux 4.4.0.57? Straight, compiled linux? Or are you running a variant of it, such as Ubuntu? Our list of supported distros is here:
          http://www.scootersoftware.com/download.php?zz=kb_linux
          Which are you running?

And you mention that the Seagate is partitioned as NTFS, but is this an internal drive, NAS device, or something else? Is it a secondary Internal drive on your Linux machine or connected via usb3?

And, assuming a usb3 drive, if you connect to your Mac you are able to find and copy Seagate4TB/adaptec/Windows7/Application/jmide? Sometimes filtering can have different defaults or files might be hidden from your MacOS, so it would be important to verify the exact same file is present and is copyable using BC4 for MacOS.

              Hello,

Does this error occur for all 0 byte files you attempt to transfer either to the USB drive or from the USB drive? I've been testing with a small sample set of mixed files and 0 byte files, but haven't hit this error yet.

Yes, the error occurs on all zero byte directory and file(s).
This only happens on my Linux system.
I have not tried to copy to another USB, I will try soon.

The error only occurs on NTFS formated drives. I used a fat32 drive without issues.
I have attached a sample zip with three zero byte directories.

Do you get errors if you try the same copy on your Linux machine using Linux Mint's file manager or the cp command in a terminal?

I do not get any errors when using either the file manager or cp command.
The only time it occurs is on NTFS formatted drives and when I use BC on the empty files/directories.

I have also used meld without any issues.
