  • How to get Quick Compare to treat archives as files, not folders

When using the Quick Compare feature by using the context menu in Explorer, how can I get Beyond Compare to treat archives as files, not folders.

I already have this option enabled on the startup tab in Option:
    [X] Binary quick compare

But when right-clicking archive files in Explorer and choosing to compare them with Beyond Compare, they are still opened and treated as folders.

I want Beyond Compare to always do a Binary Compare when I right-click on files in Explorer, no matter what type of files they are.

    Hello,

Any file extension defined as an Archive is always treated as a folder by the shell extension. There is no current method to quickly switch this behavior, but it's something on our wishlist. If you remove the extension as an Archive type, then restart the application, this will make it a binary file for the shell extension but also always a file in the Folder Compare, too.
