    I'd class it as important!

    Hello,

That text is within a comment (<!-- to -->). If comments are unimportant, then everything within the comment is Unimportant.

      Goodness. Why's that?

BC doesn't default to that for e.g. PHP

If you click into the text of that PHP section, is it detecting as a Comment? The current version of the PHP format on our website would mark /* to */ as a Comment, and the Session Settings normally default Comment as Unimportant (Unchecked).

If you check Comment, then all comments (all text within) is Important and that'd explain why your PHP is behaving differently. Or if the grammar has been edited and that text above is no longer a "Comment" element, that could explain the behavior you are seeing.
With default settings, I'd expect PHP to behave the same, and this has been our Comment behavior for a very long time (BC2+). Defining grammars within grammars has been a longterm wishlist item, but this behaivor isn't new.

I had already done so -- as the caret in Text Details shows.

          Seems not. "Default text"

          Importing that gets "Comment":

          Thanks!
