"Compare Files Using" should include Excel Compare

When MKS attempts to compare two archives that are not working revisions, it checks them out as .tmp files, no matter if they are source files or Excel files. When two Excel .tmp files are compared, they are treated as Hex files types by BC3.

How do I get BC3 to list "Excel Compare" in the "Compare Files Using" menu so that I can switch to this comparison once the compare window is open?

This was easily done in BC2 by using the 'referee' icon to switch rules.

The issue you are running into is once BC3 launches a particular Viewer type, you need to use a different command to open a different Viewer type. In BC2, you may not have run into this issue since the Viewer types were all separate Plug-in installs that were not included by default. So, in BC2, you were opening the .tmp files in the Text Comparison, and then switched to a different Text Comparison Rule.

In BC3, to switch from the Hex Compare, go to the Session menu, Compare Using -> Data Compare. This will switch to the Data Comparison and compare your Excel files.

If you wish to use the Text Comparison, you must first install the Additional File Formats for Excel for the Text Compare:

Once installed, you can Compare Using -> either the Data Compare or Text Compare.
