  • How can I define conditional comparisons

    I have a file layout with 4 records types. There are line numbers, sequences that type of thing in the each record type but they aren't necessarily in the same position - it is dependent on the record type.
    Example:
    record types 01-04
    012019031412345Somedata1235MoreData9999999999
    0220190314Somedata1235MoreData999999SomeDatax
    0320190314Data1235MoreData1234999999SomeDatax
    0420190314SomeDataMoreData999999SomeData12345

    when doing a file compare, how can i tell it to ignore the line numbers and sequences for each different record type

    BC4's File Formats can define a grammar element as a Regular Expression. This does not support a conditional definition, but is there a full regex that can match on the Unimportant (or Important) part of the text? I'm unsure which part of the above example is conditional or which part should be unimportant under which conditions.
