Feature request: aligned lines stay put

There are times I'm trying to merge scripts on html files and I use the align option a lot. When I align two lines, the two lines disappear and I have to find them to finish my merge. In a large document, the aligned section could easily be hundreds of lines off screen.

Why can't my two aligned lines stay in their previous positions (within view)?
