  • BC3 Shell Extension Regards JPG as Text File?

    Compare a pair of image files from the shell extension;
    If one/both of the files is/are JPG, in the Quick Compare dialog, the combobox shows "Text Compare", not "Picture Compare".

    Is this a bug or something wrong in my system? (I didn't notice when this began.)

    Hello,

    It should show the default comparison, as defined in the Tools menu -> File Formats dialog. There should be a "Picture Files" format. One of the extensions should be *.jpg. Is this extension present? Is the button Factory Defaults clickable? If so, you can click it to restore the defaults.

      Thanks for the hint.
      I found the reason:
      Recently I imported some formats, including "EXIF Headers". And they were added at the top of the list. This caused the issue.

      A suggestion BTW:
      When imported, formats should be added at the bottom of the list.

        Hello,

        If we added the formats to the bottom, then any user that imports an alternative format would try to run a comparison and see the old rule still being used. We aren't likely to just add them to the bottom, but coming up with a new method is something we would consider.
