  • 13298 Where is my portable install of BC storing settings?

Settings such as these sessions http://i.imgur.com/ozILTM8.png

Storage is not not in the program directory as expected: http://i.imgur.com/HNyhZzE.png AFAICS.

    Thanks.

BC checks for BCState.xml in the install directory when it starts up, and if it finds it it stores all of the settings there. If it isn't everything is stored in %AppData% and the registry. The only thing the portable install option does is create an empty BCState.xml and extract the files without registering an uninstaller, Start menu items, Explorer extension, etc.

      Thanks.

That .XML had got lost. So the changes I made to what I thought were install-private settings have messed up the global settings. Grrr...

Something external to BC must have deleted the BCState.xml file. We would not delete or alter install types.

One tip to help double check: Use the Help menu -> Support dialog, and click the blue link to Explore Settings folder. This will take you to the currently detected settings folder and will expose if the install is using the install directory or %AppData%
