  • Matlab SLX format

Matlab recently introduced a new file format for their simulink toolbox. Its essentially a zip file of XML with the extension ".slx" I want to compare 2 versions of this file but by default, its treated as a binary file. If I rename the 2 files to .zip, then they are treated as folders and I can do a text compare of the contents inside. Is there a way to make BC3 always treat this format as a folder like a zip file?

Yes, you can go to the BC3 Tools menu -> Options, Folder Views section. In the Archive Associations list, scroll down to Zip. Add ";*.slx" to the end of the list of zip extensions. It is a ";" delimited list.

You will need to then restart BC3 by closing any open BC3 windows.

That extension will now be treated the same as .zip. How does this work for you?

Can you tell me how to do this in BC 4.1.3?

To make BC 4.1.3 open *.slx as a zip file:

          Open Tools > Options.
Go to the Archive Types section.
          Scroll down to Zip.
Add ;*.slx to the end of the semicolon separated list of file masks.
          Restart Beyond Compare.
