  • Simple Folder Compare Scripting

    I'm new in scripting.

I want to compare two folders and get a message only if there are any differences. Is this possible ?

I have already tried to analyse the errorlevel, but the value is always 0, equal if the directories are identical or not.

    Thanks for your support

    Hello,

A Folder Comparison can be run from BC Scripting, which can in turn generate a Report which can be parsed. One of the report types is XML for easy parsing, and you can test/generate this report in the graphical interface to see if it meets your needs.

Scripting is documented in the Help file in the Using Beyond Compare -> Automating with Script chapter. If you need more help setting up script, once you've confirmed one of the report layout types (XML, Side by Side, etc) meets your needs, just let us know and we can help you set that up.

The errorlevel is used to report errors that occur during scripting, or for the /quickcompare command line (which accepts only pairs of files, not folders).
